I am still looking for more info on this story about PFC Foster Barton
being
attacked in OH. BUT Tom Segal is really playing fast & loose with the known
facts..
and further adding more hate.. to an already divided America.. and left much
out.. that was in the original article in newspaper..
If this was true as written by Tom Segal.. it is criminal...but there
always two sides to a story... Segals article below was posted on the GOP
web site... and is anti-Kerry.. thus the spin
Witnesses said the attacker, described as 25 to 30 years old, was with a
woman about his own age who tried to pull him off Barton.
The witnesses said the attacker was drunk or high. One said the man might
have misinterpreted Barton's T-shirt as an anti-war message.
None of the witnesses who talked to The Dispatch heard the derogatory
comments about soldiers
I don't believe this is part of a left wing- hate America conspiracy as
Segal tries to lead us to believe. We don't know what was said between the
two parties before the incident...or who was drunk or sober, nor does it
show the crowd stood and watched... it seems to have happened pretty fast...
then the attacker disappeared
local TV NBC Channel 4, reported the soldier said he was hit from behind
and was unconscious and couldn't even remember being hit... another witness
said that Barton struck the alleged assailant first... I have not been able
find out if any body has been arrested
"Barton said he was injured again Friday night in a crowded parking lot as
he was leaving the Toby Keith concert at Germain Amphitheatre. The solider
was injured so badly that he can't go back to Iraq as scheduled.
"I don't remember getting hit at all, really," said Barton, a member of the
1st Calvary Division. "He hit me in the back of the head. I fell and hit the
ground. I was knocked unconscious and he continued to punch and kick me on
the ground." So how does he know anything?
One witness, a friend of the alleged attacker, said Barton hit first.
alleged attacker, who police said ran into the crowd after the incident and
was not arrested.
The fact he was wearing a "patriotic" shirt would not necessarily identify
him as a soldier... so saying this was a left wing assault on soldiers is
extremely stretching any known facts..
After he came home Sept. 5, Barton said he felt a wave of appreciation. The
Grove City Council honored him, as did U.S. Rep. Deborah Pryce. A family
friend, a professor at Ohio State University, explained to the right people
what Barton had been through, and he found himself in the Buckeye locker
room after a game, getting everyone's autograph.

It is unfortunate this happened to one of our wounded soldiers here at home
while recuperating from his combat wounds. The attack could very well have
resulted from all the anti-war rhetoric and the negative campaign rhetoric
of the Kerry and DNC people. They should be ashamed but they won't be, it
has been over thirty years and Senator John F. Kerry has not apologized for
his actions after the Vietnam War.
"Terrorism didn't begin on September 11, 2001. ... It began in the hearts of
evil men.... It won't go away, even if America withdraws from Iraq tomorrow.
Had we not gone there in the first place, terrorism would still be
around." --Cal Thomas

> I view Tom Segel as a credible source and am saddened by his account that

> What is particularly disgusting in Tom Segel's column is that "people
