Born
in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania -- January 30th 1944
Moved to Smithsburg, Md in my Senior Year and joined the Navy after
Graduation ... after being told by the Army that I was to light ...
the Navy Recruiter then gave me a batch of Bananas and told me to eat
them to bring up my weight! Served as a Destroyer Sailor from 1962 to
1984!
Never was a hero by any means ... received two Presidential
Commendations ... Three Navy Achievement Medals ... and five
Good Conduct Medals ... Served on four Navy Destroyers ... as an
Electronic Technician! Went from - Seaman Duce in 1962 -
Senior Chief in 1983!
Lost Friends to -- on ground Forces in Vietnam, and later
Complications connected to Agent Orange!
Retired as a 60% Disabled Veteran in 1984 -- and worked as a Gift
Store salesman and owner from 1985-1997! Been involved as a Veteran
Advocate since 1985!
Author of one Book ... Grandma Karen and Emma Star Dancer
Political Writer For a Small Town paper in Hope Mills, North
Carolina!
Some articles published in the Fayetteville, Observer-Times from
1991-1997.
Married - 2 Sons that served in the First Gulf War - 1 Daughter
serving in Iraq today!
