Look at this FUPAH
at field operations in Iraq..read on.... Crash of a MC-130H Talon-2 in Iraq...this was not a hard landing as described by the media, but a gross error on the part of the airfield manager and construction crews. Last week one of our C-23 Sherpas flew into a US operated airfield in Iraq during the day and saw there was construction equipment on the runway. Yet there was no NOTAM (notice to airmen). A trench was being dug in the runway, and it was not marked. Its a long runway and they just landed beyond the construction. They filed a safety hazard report that was immediately forwarded to our higher headquarters and to the Air Force wing based here. Well, it seems the construction continued and still was not marked or NOTAMed or anything. A MC-130H landed on the runway the night of the 29th and didn't see the construction. It wound up going through what is now a large pit on the runway. A few pictures are attached. The MC-130H was totaled. There were several injuries to the crew and the few passengers that were on board but luckily nobody was killed. Quite the set of failures somewhere in the system regarding this improper construction and no notifications about it.
"Talon Cleared to Land "Roger Baghdad tower, Understand 22 right....130 talon out"

Disabled veterans tax.
Is this the start of the "spending of political equity" we have heard about? Is this the future for veterans of these United States? JOIN THE VETERANS PARTY! Van Hollen Statement on House Republican Leadership's Ouster of Rep. Chris Smith as Chairman of the Veterans Affairs Committee Washington, D.C. - United States Representative Chris Van Hollen released the following statement on the decision by the House Republican Leadership to remove Representative Chris Smith (R-NJ) as Chairman of the House Committee on Veterans Affairs:
"The Republican Chairman of the Agriculture Committee has pushed for large subsidies for agribusiness. Yet he is not being fired. The Republican Chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee has fought for large subsidies for the oil and gas industries. Nor has he been fired by the House Republican Leadership. Yet when Representative Chris Smith (R-NJ) stood up for our veterans, who do not have high-powered lobbyists to advocate for their cause, he was opposed and is now being punished by the Republican leadership.
"Representative Smith has done an outstanding job fighting for veterans and working to ensure that they receive the heath care and other benefits they earned through their sacrifice for our country. He has worked on a bipartisan basis to do what is right by our veterans. That often meant butting heads with the House Republican leadership who did not share these priorities. Despite its rhetoric, the House Republican leadership opposed the efforts of Representative Smith, myself, and others to provide our veterans with adequate support and resources. Consequently, it is now punishing Representative Smith for following the dictates of his conscience rather than the orders of his leadership. We should all stand with Representative Smith just as he has stood up for our veterans.
"I fear that this is a bad omen of things to come. Veterans, who have already seen their health care rationed and reduced, are already victims of the flawed priorities of the Republican Leadership.
"Every veteran in this country should be outraged."
Only the House GOP would have the
audacity to claim to be pro-veteran, and then strip Rep. Smith
of his Chairmanship for being too supportive of veterans. Only
the House GOP would have the impudence to claim to be the party
of morals, and move to strip Rep. Hefley of his Ethics Committee
Chairmanship for being too ethical. It's disturbingly
reminiscent of President Nixon's '
"Today's actions, along with
Tuesday's rollback of the ethics process, show that the
Republicans intend to continue their junta-like control of this
once proud institution. They stifle dissent; change rules to
suit their needs; muzzle the minority; and now, like praying
mantises, are devouring their own. I hope the American people
understand what is happening to their Congress."
Anyone remember those words?
