Biography of  Editor William A. Gast
 
  
Bill was born in Reno Nevada in 1933. He moved several times in the following 17 years and graduated from High school in 1952 from Downey California. In his senior year he joined the Naval Air Reserve at NAS Los Alamitos, California. In May of 1952 his squadron was called to active duty in the Korean Conflict and he served at various locations from NAS North Island San Diego to NAS Sangley Point Philippines. Upon his release from active duty he returned to NAS Los Alamitos where he joined reserve squadron VR773. He continued service in the reserve as  an aircraft mechanic (AD) and flight Engineer on various aircraft including C-54,C118, C9. During the years between the Korean service and discharge, he served in short periods of active duty in Vietnam and  during operation baby-lift the program that brought injured Asian children to the United States for medical care. He was discharged in 1993  from NAS Point Magu  division NAS Cubi Point where he was senior enlisted member after serving 42 years. Bill  is 30% disabled veteran (D.A.V.) and the retired CEO of a corporation in southern California and lives in New Braunfels, Texas Favorite pastime is sailing and  "flying space-A " when time permits. Bill is the founder of We Support The Vets veterans activists group. Author of EXTRACTION ( 2006) and INTERDICT (2008) both published by Xlibris and Random House.
